Pigmentation

Pigmentation removal

For over 10 years, our Laser and Skin Clinic has been successfully treating all types of skin pigmentation, from freckle removal, sun spots to age spots on facial and body areas. Our Skin Pigmentation Removal treatment is a quick and non-invasive procedure. Namely, IPL is a fantastic therapy for erasing pigmentation.

IPL Treatment for Pigmentation

IPL (Intense Pulse Light) is an amazing treatment that clears brown spots and redness with minimal downtime and discomfort.

When treating brown spots (hyperpigmentation) or melasma (larger areas of brown discoloration) there can be an immediate darkening of some of the area treated. This occurs if there is brown pigment that is superficially located in the layers of your skin.

This is a sign of good things to come! This response typically resolves in 7-14 days, at which time most people will notice a slight lightening of many superficial brown spots.

If the pigment is located in the deeper layers of skin, as is often the case in melasma, there may be no initial darkening of the excess pigment. To improve deeper pigment issues and brown spots, a series of treatments will be needed before you will notice normal healthy skin emerge with significantly fewer brown spots and general discoloration.

It is not always possible to eliminate all spots and brownness. However, dramatic lightening and improvement is common.

What to Expect After IPL Treatment

After IPL, you may experience mild discomfort or a tightness to the skin.  Your aesthetician will apply a moisturizer to increase comfort and may recommend using a cooling pack, as well. With IPL therapy for pigmentation treatment and scarring, it may take up to a week for damaged cells to rise to the surface and flake away. It is also normal for targeted dark spots to become more noticeable during the healing process. However, once the cells begin to flake away, patients will begin to see clearer, more even skin underneath.

Most patients can expect to see results within a few weeks of their first treatment. And for optimal results, a series of treatments over three to five months is recommended. The number of treatments needed will depend on your unique goals and the degree of pigmentation being treated.

IPL treatments are an investment in yourself and your self-confidence. And it is important to be able to communicate with and trust your care provider. At VS MedSpa Laser & Skin Clinic, we pride ourselves on providing high-quality, individualized and compassionate care to all of our patients.
